Christmas Wedding Bells

Well, I’ve finally gotten around to downloading some photos from over the holidays. The most momentous occasion in the family this Christmas season was my sister’s wedding. The week before Christmas my little sister Hannah got married to her charming sweetheart Tim.

This is my parents’ fourth Christmas wedding. Which means that so far, they’ve only been able to have wedding receptions for other people’s children in their lovely backyard. The closest we got at Hannah’s reception was sending all the kids outside bundled up in coats to roast marshmallows in the fire pit. However, my parents do still have one child left. Perhaps Jesse will consent to a spring or summer wedding.

They newlyweds were adorable, but I was a little shocked at how young they both seemed, until I realized that Hannah is actually a year older than I was when I got married. I also realized that I spent more time at the wedding thinking about my children’s future weddings than reminiscing about my own wedding. Is this some kind of old age marker?

In addition to witnessing the wedding, we met my very first Bringhurst-side nephew. I could not get enough of two-month-old Gideon. I never thought I could fall so in love with any baby other than my own.  Axa liked him too.

At the Oakland Temple, since everyone was dressed up, we seized the opportunity to take a family photo. What do you think?

Just kidding. (And we’re really not having a fight. I promise.)

This one’s a bit better. Anyway, it’s the best we could get under the circumstances.

And while we’re on the subject of family photos and such, we sent out our Christmas e-letter last week. I am not at all confident about the state of my friends and family email list. If you didn’t receive it, it’s not because we don’t love you, just because I’m not very organized. In such a case, please email me your address, leave it in the comments, or fill out the contact form on our family website to be permanently added to the Familia Family Christmas Letter List.

I wish you all a happy, prosperous, and tranquil New Year.

I’ve got some more versions of that family photo of yours from Ashley’s camera. I’ll send them to you when I get a moment. I think I might have one with better lighting.
